Through the unlikely messengers of two young trespassers—one white and one black—looking to fish in one of the many pasture watering holes, the issues of race are softened by the sheer beauty of nature and friendship. Bo eventually hires Kevin and Leonard as summer farmhands, offering mentorship and freedom the boys had not before known.
And through their charming exchange of goodwill, Bo finds his peace by recognizing something he’d always known: the path to forgiveness starts with an honest look at the limitations and the fears within oneself.
Born in Houston, Texas, in 1959, Kenneth L. Capps joined the US Marine Corps in 1979 for a thirteen-year career. He started a tree removal company in 1993. In 2009, Ken won honorable mention in nonfiction in the New Bern Literary Symposium in North Carolina. The next year, in 2010, he placed second in fiction in the same contest. Ken’s writing career started at 50 years of age in what he considers to be the best years of his life. The only reason he entered the contests was to prove that he possessed the talent to write and verify what his friends were telling him. Forgiving Waters is Ken’s first (but not last) published novel.

This coloring and activity book is chock full of fun facts and activities to help kids learn about being a patriot! Cody’s story is inspiring, and so is the story of our country! Explore pages for coloring, crossword puzzles, and fun facts as you find out why America is one of the best countries in the world!

Cody Jackson is a pint-sized patriot and the One Boy USO, who, at the age of nine, has already thanked 10,000+ of our country's heroes.
It all began when Cody was four, with a simple question: “Why is it so hard to get on a plane?” Ever since the moment that his parents explained, as well as possible, the events of 9/11, Cody has been a new boy. Every day, he goes out of his way to thank our military men and women. He began by going to airports and greeting incoming service men and women. Then, as a way to thank more “soldiers” more often, Cody began collecting donations to help fund care packages to ship to deployed troops.
After noticing the lack of patriotism in his peers, Cody wanted to let other kids know “It’s okay to be patriotic! If I can do it, you can too!” He has written his patriotic children’s books to share his love of America and her military, and hopes to help other children love their country and troops as much as he does!
A portion of all sales of Cody’s books will go toward his efforts as the One Boy USO at OneBoyUSO.com.
